Fortunately there are simple steps you can take to keep your dog cool and avoid the problem.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure they always have access to a cool shaded place.<\/li>\n<li>Your dog should always have access to plenty of drinking water; in hot weather you can add a few ice cubes to keep it nice and cool. Refill their bowl with fresh water regularly.<\/li>\n<li>Allow fresh air to cool your house by opening windows. You can help keep the house cool by closing curtains in rooms facing the sun.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t leave your dog somewhere that can trap the heat such as a conservatory, greenhouse or a caravan\/tent.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t overdo their exercise or play and take a break often. \u00a0Avoid the hottest part of the day -11am-3pm. Ideally go out early morning or at night. Take some water for them to drink on the walk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dogs die in hot cars. Don\u2019t leave<\/strong> <strong>your dog in a parked car on a hot day<\/strong>, not even briefly.<\/li>\n<li>Try to avoid long car journeys, if you must travel keep the car as cool as possible.
